Online rent collection gives residents a convenient, time-saving method for processing fees and payments. It cuts payment processing time by up to 70 percent, so you’ll get paid faster. Residents can also set up recurring payments so that funds are automatically transferred to your bank account—no manual deposits necessary.

Buildium offers several payment options for landlords and property managers to collect rent from tenants. These options include:

1. ACH (Automated Clearing House) Payments: Tenants can authorize direct bank transfers from their checking or savings accounts to pay their rent. This option provides a secure and convenient way to make payments electronically.
2. Credit and Debit Card Payments: Buildium allows tenants to pay their rent using major credit cards or debit cards. This option offers flexibility for tenants who prefer to use their cards for payments.
3. E-checks: Tenants can also make rent payments using electronic checks, which are processed through the ACH network. This option allows tenants to pay directly from their bank accounts without the need for physical checks.
4. Cash Payments: Buildium integrates with select payment processors that offer cash payment options. This allows tenants to make cash payments at participating retail locations, which are then recorded and tracked within the Buildium platform.

To collect online payments, Buildium customers should follow these general steps:

1. Apply for ePay*
   All Buildium customers will have access to our simple, step-by-step guide on how to apply for ePay. For Growth and Premium customers, our Customer Care team can answer any “how-to” questions throughout your application process.

Once your application is approved:

1. (Optional) Set up your Convenience Fees – this is a pass-through charge that can offset your processing costs
2. Enable your properties for EFT and Cards
3. Grant your residents access to the Resident Center – this is where your residents will go to pay you

*To complete your ePay application, you must have a business bank account. Personal bank accounts are not accepted. During the application, you will need to furnish identity and contact details associated with your company’s bank account, along with specific transaction information, as mandated by federal requirements.
